The federal government will require all public servants to be in the office at least four days a week as of July 6, according to a new policy issued Thursday.

Bill Matthews, the Secretary of the Treasury Board, along with Chief Human Resources Officer Jacqueline Bodgen and her associate Francis Trudel issued the directive to deputy ministers.

While the general policy for public servants takes effect in July, all government executives will be required to work in the office five days a week as of May 4.

“We are writing to inform you that the Government intends to increase the on-site presence of executives and employees who are eligible for hybrid work,” the letter states.
