Hello,
We've added OpenClaw to our 1-click app lineup.
OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot/Moltbot) is an open-source AI agent that runs on your server. It connects to AI providers like OpenAI and many more, automates tasks you'd normally handle manually, and lets you build custom workflows without getting locked into commercial platforms that charge per request. It's your own personal AI assistant that's always working and integrates with tools you already use.
What You Can Do With OpenClaw
With such a powerful open-source tool, the uses are virtually endless. Automate code reviews and generate documentation on demand. Handle customer support queries or process datasets with AI models. Set up workflows that keep running without constant supervision. Build custom automation for your specific needs. Or just have it manage your to-do lists, emails, and daily schedule. It's up to you.
Connect OpenClaw to communication channels like Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, or Slack so you can interact with your agent however makes sense – just like you would with a human assistant. It even communicates with you proactively, not just when you prompt it.
Self-hosting OpenClaw on a VPS solves most security concerns. You don't have to run it on your main system, and your data stays on your server unless you explicitly send it elsewhere.
Getting It Running
Order a VPS or VDS and select OpenClaw during setup. We handle the installation at no extra cost.
After deployment, connect via SSH and run through the onboarding wizard. It's interactive and walks you through the essential configuration steps. Our setup guide has the full walkthrough.
Once configured, OpenClaw runs continuously and handles whatever tasks you've set up for it.
Things You Should Know
OpenClaw is free and open-source, but it connects to external AI providers that bill separately. You'll need an API key with billing set up from providers like OpenAI (unless you run a local Ollama model), and their usage costs are on top of your hosting. Check their pricing and monitor your usage dashboard so you don't get surprised by the bill.
OpenClaw can read files and execute commands without restrictions when you enable those tools - that's what makes it so useful, but it also makes strong security even more important. Running it on a VPS instead of your main system is a good start. Use strong SSH authentication. Keep API keys secure. The Control UI runs on localhost by default and needs SSH tunneling to access. All of this puts you in charge of security and gives you full control over your data.
OpenClaw is available now on the Contabo Cloud with free 1-click installation. Try it today.
