Ramadan

Access to Alternate Lunch/Prayer Space

We are seeking input from our Oak Hill families who will be observing Ramadan this year. Please complete this form if you would like your student/s to have the option of accessing a prayer space during the day and/or the option of visiting an alternative space in place of the cafeteria during lunchtime due to fasting. 

Please complete this form as soon as possible so that we can ensure that we are following your wishes regarding appropriate religious accommodations for your child. Please complete one form per student at Oak Hill Elementary School before Friday, February 13th. 

Ramadan Take-Home Meal Kits

From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.

Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline was Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

  • Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day. 
  • Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.
  • Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

Yearbook - Order NOW

Oak Hill ES yearbooks are on sale now!  Order by February 27th because there will be a limited number of extra yearbooks available for sale at the end of the year.

If your sixth grader needs financial assistance with a yearbook, please email  Mr. Mitchell, our school counselor at asmitchell@fcps.edu.

PRICE:  $19 until 2/27/26.

Online orders have an additional $1.99 processing fee.

or you may fill out the envelope that came home in your child's Friday folder with $19 in cash or check made out to Oak Hill ES.  

Please remember to list your child's homeroom teacher to assist us with easy yearbook distribution.

5K Race T-shirt Design Contest

Design a t-shirt for our upcoming 5K race!

Contest is open to all grade levels. 

The winning designer will receive a free t-shirt!

Due:  Friday, February 27th.  Submit in the library or email to Mrs. Dolenc at mrdolenc@fcps.edu.

 

Requirements:

  • Must include the phrase Oak Hill 5K and the year (2026)
  • Use 8.5 x 11 inch white paper
  • Maximum 3 colors including black
  • Write first name, last name, grade, and teacher on back of entry.

Warm Up FCPS – Divisionwide Spirit Day

Tired of all the cold weather? Let’s warm up with a little school spirit across the division! 

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid is encouraging all FCPS students, teachers, and staff to shake the wrinkles out of their brightest outfits and tropical wear to help brighten everyone’s moods on Thursday, February 19.


PTA Reflections Contest Winners

Congratulations to our Oak Hill ES students who have placed at the County level of the PTA Reflections competition! Below are the results:

*1st place: Annabelle M., Dance choreography, Middle (6th-8th grade)

3rd place: Olivia Y., Visual Arts, Intermediate (3rd - 5th grade)

2026-2027 Kindergarten Survey

Virginia Law, section 22.1-254, requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2026, must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend school until the following year.

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2026, please complete this form and return it by February 20, 2026. If any of your neighbors have children who will be eligible for Kindergarten, please share this information with them, as we would also like to reach those Oak Hill families who do not have children currently attending school.

The information on this survey will help the school plan for adequate facilities and personnel for the 2026-2027 school year. You may return a hard copy to to your child's teacher or you may email the completed form to Kjdillard1@fcps.edu.  We thank you in advance for returning the form by February 20, 2026.


Kindergarten Orientation

Oak Hill's Kindergarten Orientation will be on Friday, April 10th at 9 am.  Please mark your calendars.  This event is for rising kindergarteners and their families.

We recognize that parents are their children’s first teachers. Resources on the School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage provide parents with ways to support their children to help ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.

Registration information for Oak Hill ES will be announced soon.


FCPS PreK and Early Head Start are now accepting applications for SY 2026–27!

The FCPS PreK and Early Head Start programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old.

PreK: For children who will be age 3 or 4 by September 30, with priority given to 4-year-olds.  Oak Hill ES has a pre-Kindergarten class.

Early Head Start: For children ages 0–2 and pregnant women who live in the Reston, Herndon, and Springfield areas.  This would be at another loation

*Cereal Box Donation and Domino Topple

Our cereal box collection continues this week (February 9-13). We are collecting UNOPENED cereal boxes. The Student Council will construct a domino topple out of the cereal boxes and then donate them to Cornerstones, a local food bank. Let's see how long a cereal box chain we can make!

*Finance Forward Presentation

Join us Tuesday, February 24, for a FREE one-hour workshop for grades 1-3 on Financial Literacy taught by Oakton High School students. Our goal/objective is to teach kids from grades 1-6 the importance of spending money wisely and the need to make careful financial decisions..

This presentation was rescheduled from Feb 3rd.  Please re-register on the PTA website if you are able to attend on the new date.   Please make your child and your child's teacher aware that they should stay for this class on February the 24th.

*Ultimate Frisbee- Registration RE-Opened

This club will be a combination of physical agility warmup and learning the basics of how to throw a backhand frisbee and forehand (Flick) throw. These throws will be incorporated into various games with the end goal of
learning how to play ultimate frisbee. Register for this after school activity on the PTA website by February 20th.


Who: Open to 5th and 6th graders
When: Dates: March 2, 9, 23 ; April 13, 20, 27; May 4  (7 Mondays)
Time: 3:30-4:30 
Cost: $75 (Includes a new 175gram ultimate frisbee disc)
Instructor:  Erik Hayes, Rocky Run MS teacher. He has taught and coached Middle and High School students as well as a college team.

2026 CTE Summer Enrichment Programs

Tech Adventure Camp: Current Kindergarten - grade 5 students explore Business/Marketing, Family + Consumer Sciences, Health + Medical Sciences, STEAM, and Trades by rotating through daily classes.
