Above is a quick sketch I did of Heather Cox Richardson on one of our zooms a few years ago. She was looking right at me from the computer screen, but I attempted to visualize her profile. Let’s be honest. Right now, it’s never a slow news day. But today I’m just going to tell you about what I’ll be posting tomorrow, which is another video I did with Heather Cox Richardson. I won’t tell you what it’s about—that would spoil the surprise. I am so enjoying these collaborations, where she speaks about an event in history, and I draw something about it. It’s a unique way to present something in history that we both find important, and/or interesting, maybe something you didn’t know about. When I was growing up, most educators didn’t really think about art as a way of educating. You either studied art, practiced art and then there were illustrations in history books, of course. But combine the two in an interesting way so that the information being imparted is absorbed by different types of learners is a relatively new way of thinking. For today’s Deeper Seeing for paid subscribers, I want to go into that a little bit more and talk about working with Heather.
