Dear Fox Mill Families,

We hope you had a wonderful week!  We were so happy to see our kindergarten students bring their boots and enjoy some time playing in what’s left of the snow. Their excitement and laughter made for a joyful end to the week.

Students enjoyed exchanging valentines with their classmates, participating in themed games and activities, and sharing special treats together. It was heartwarming to see their kindness, creativity, and excitement as they celebrated friendship and community.

Thank you for your support in helping make events like this so special. We are so proud of how respectful, joyful, and inclusive our students were throughout the celebration.

We hope your child came home with happy memories (and maybe a few extra treats!).

A FEW UPDATES

Safety and Parking Update

Please be aware that he parking spaces located in the bus loop in front of the school have now been marked. There is one handicap-accessible space and one designated visitor space available. We kindly ask that these spaces be used appropriately and kept available for those who need them.  Additional visitor parking is available in the main school parking lot and along the surrounding streets. Please remain vigilant when visiting the school or attending field trips with your child. Your attention to safety helps ensure a safe environment for everyone.

At dismissal time, students who are designated as walkers are expected to walk directly home and not remain in front of the school to play. When students stay and play in front of the school, it becomes difficult for staff to identify which children have not yet been picked up. For safety reasons, children should not cross the bus loop unsupervised, as there continues to be traffic flow in the bus loop even after dismissal.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep all students safe.

SR and R Survey

Survey on Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) Now Open for All Families and Middle and High School Students

On Monday, all FCPS parents/caregivers and middle and high school students received an email to participate in a voluntary and confidential survey. (Please check your spam folder if you have not received it.)

Questions refer to proposed changes to FCPS’ SR&R document for next year. This document outlines the rules that students are expected to follow, and guidelines for consequences if those expectations are not met. Possible changes include:

  • Universal Discipline: Charts will list consequences and supports for students. They will help ensure that two students of the same grade will be treated fairly and receive the same level of support.
  • Standards for In-School Suspensions of Students with Disabilities: Creating standards for how in-school suspensions are handled for students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan.
  • Accommodations for Multilingual Learner Student Statements: Providing translation accommodations when Multilingual Learner students provide statements about disciplinary incidents.

The survey will be open until Friday, February 20. Survey materials are available online.
