FCPS Feature: Chantilly Academy's Teachers for Tomorrow Program

In case you missed it: Chantilly Academy's very own Teachers for Tomorrow (Tft) program was featured in this week's FCPS This Week newsletter.  The article highlights an annual favorite project in our Teachers for Tomorrow class: creating classroom dioramas.  For this project, our future educators use shoeboxes to design their ideal classroom.  These dioramas reflect the learning environments they hope to create in the future for their students, including seating design, classroom stations, collaborative workspaces, storage space, and more.  Be sure to check out the article to learn more about this creative project!

And for another glimpse into our Teachers for Tomorrow classroom, check out this Back to Fairfax video which features clips from our TfT class.

Academy Staffing Updates

leger

As you may have heard, our Academy Administrator, Mr. Scott Settar, will be serving as the acting Principal at Westfield High School beginning on Monday, February 23.  During Mr. Settar's absence, Mr. Phil Leger will be serving as the acting Academy Administrator.  Mr. Leger is a friendly face in our Academy as he currently serves as our Criminal Justice instructor. Throughout the month of January 2026, Mr. Leger successfully served as the interim Assistant Principal for Subschool 3 at Chantilly High School, where he demonstrated strong leadership and support for students, staff, and families.

genus

While Mr. Leger serves as our acting Academy Administrator, Mr. Rich Genus will serve as his long-term substitute in the Criminal Justice classroom.  Mr. Genus is a retired Fairfax County Police Officer who served FCPD for 24 years in various roles including Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and Crime Prevention Officer.  Mr. Genus brings to the classroom a wealth of knowledge about law enforcement and the criminal justice system.  We look forward to having him share his vast knowledge and experiences with our Criminal Justice students!
