 Check out these kindergarten students who invented a new game with marbles. This is what our play-based program is about. We will have our orientation for new kindergarteners on Thursday, April 9th. Please share with friends & families who have a rising five year old.

A Message from Ms. Consolla
The snow is almost gone, and we were able to get reacquainted with the playground! What a difference it makes to get some fresh air and the chance to run. We will return to Walkers Dismissal at Door 11 by the bike racks.
As we look toward the week ahead, I want to share a few important logistical reminders. Please mark your calendars for this coming Wednesday, February 25. This will be a three-hour early release day for all students, with dismissal taking place at 12:40PM. Please ensure that your afternoon transportation plans are coordinated so that our Foxes get home safely and smoothly.
Also next week, on Thursday, is our amazing "Dance Around the World." Please come by to celebrate and learn about the many countries represented at Fort Hunt. Doors will open at 5:30pm.

We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.
But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.

Winter Family Score Reports for ES Screening/Growth Assessments
Family score reports for elementary winter screening and growth assessments will be centrally distributed to families through SIS ParentVUE (PVUE) Documents. Families in grades PreK-6 will receive up to three (3) reports based on the assessments their student took this winter:
Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.
Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.
FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.

Immersion Lottery Information
All families of rising kindergarten and rising Grade 1 students (current kindergarten) are eligible to apply for the Spanish immersion lottery as well as any language offered in FCPS. Please share with neighbors!

From February 18 to March 19, students who are fasting during the day can take school meals home. These kits include one breakfast and one lunch to be eaten after the school day ends.
Families must fill out a request form each week for every student who wants a kit. The first deadline is Wednesday, February 11, for the week of February 16. Please note other important details below:

Cost: Meals are charged just like a normal school day.

Pickup: Students must grab their kits at the end of the school day.

Menu: Kits include school meals that are easy to heat at home.

SCA Food Drive Runs Now thru March 19
The Fort Hunt Student Council will be sponsoring a food drive. The time frame of this year’s food drive will be February 19th to March 19th. The students are looking to collect all non-perishable food items to donate to a local organization.
*** Please make sure items are not expired!!!***
Non-perishable items include: canned fruits/vegetables, canned beans, peanut butter, jelly, condiments, coffee/tea, salt/pepper, dry cereals, pastas, oatmeal, bags of beans/rice, tomato sauce (no glass), cooking oils, soup, sugar, flour, etc….
Please feel free to bring donations in the morning to the Fort Hunt Elementary School during morning arrival. We will have SCA members collect the food near by the main office, just inside the main entrance. If donating a large amount and need a specific time frame please feel free to reach out to Mr. Michaels, the SCA Teacher Advisor.
