Philipp asked:
(I'm paraphrasing to not give away your niche Phillip).
What if I found another course that's very similar to the one I am selling? It's probably a student of yours and I wouldn't want to disrupt their success. What should I do?
My answer:
Hey Philipp. That's one of the most fun things in this type of biz. To find other's courses that work and see with your own eyes what a successful funnel looks like.
I think that's a superpower to be able to do it. For many reasons. But here's one:
Let me tell you what'll happen if you "steal" their course idea (even if you came up with it on your own and then found that they have a similar idea).
You're gonna lose.
They already have brand recognition. Retargeting audiences. Proven ads that work. You'll not be starting at zero as you would be with an idea that's new. You'd be starting at -5 because your ads will perform worse from day one.
Furthermore --
You'll essentially be educating the market for them and their retargeting campaigns will just take away the buyers that were supposed to buy from you.
So by all means - you can steal.
But you're gonna suffer more than anyone else. Instead - find a similar idea that wouldn't directly compete with them. And then offer to upsell their product and for them to upsell yours. Everyone wins. We have quite a lot of students who do just that.
(PS - we have students who have tried to steal from previous students before. All failed).
