Hey awga
When we serve coffee at breakfast events, we’re often next to friends who run a tea company.
Two tables.
Two drinks.
Customers approach.
Some know what they want straight away.
Others look back and forth before they decide.
Tea. Or coffee?
An important decision.
Brits are known for tea.
So you’d think tea came first.
But coffee houses arrived in Britain first.
London’s first opened in 1652.
They called them “penny universities.”
For a penny, you got a cup of coffee (imagine that!) and a room where people shared ideas.
The kind of study we like.
Tea came later.
But it moved into the home faster.
And Britain became known for tea.
Now?
We’re almost neck and neck.
Brits drink around 100 million cups of tea a day.
And around 98 million cups of coffee.
What’s two million between friends?
From Uganda to your kitchen, we’re proud our coffee has made it into your home.
