3 skills you can learn for free which will pay for the rest of your life
Hey zxcv, it’s Mark.
Once you learn a skill, no one can take it away from you.
Jobs come and go and markets can crash, but your skills follow you everywhere you go.
The problem is most people spend years learning all the worthless ones.
These three skills will actually pay you for the rest of your life:
Skill 1: Uniqueness
My mentor once told me “don’t be the best, be the only” and to me, that meant that I had to make myself so different that no one could be the same.
Steve Jobs is well known for mixing his love for calligraphy and design with technology which created Apple as we know it today.
Grab a pen and paper and jot down all your existing interests and talents.
Then see which ones can combine to become truly unique. Now you’ll have a form of leverage you never even knew you had!
Skill 2: Stewardship
If you don’t learn how to manage your paycheck properly now, you never will. Here’s how:
Firstly, use 50% to pay for your needs. This is your food, rent, and electricity!
Secondly, save 20% in a high interest savings account. This is your emergency fund.
Thirdly, use 30% to pay off any high interest debt, such as credit cards and car finance.
Fourth, once you’ve paid off your debts, use 25% to invest.
Fifth, put 5% towards some slightly riskier plays like starting your own side hustle.
Skill 3: Persuasion
The only thing separating someone earning minimum wage from someone making $10k/month is knowing how to persuade others.
Here are 4 simple ways you can start selling anything to anyone, even if you think you’re not a salesperson:
1. Let them experience it first. Whether you’re selling a product, a service or even yourself in a job interview… the fastest way to win someone over is to let them experience the value firsthand.
2. Speak their language. Nobody cares about your “4K camera”, they care if you can make them look good on Instagram. Sell the benefits, not features.
3. Promise small, deliver big. I used to promise my customers 3-day delivery then surprise them with next-day. Those customers became my biggest fans.
4. Make them care about you. Share your story. People buy from people they like.
