JROTC Cadets Celebrate Tradition and Achievements at Dining Out

The Chantilly Academy JROTC program recently hosted its annual Dining Out event, one of the most anticipated evenings of the year for many of our Cadets!  Dining Out is an opportunity for Cadets to gather with each other as well as their family and friends to recognize their many accomplishments so far this school year.  Cadets were celebrated throughout the evening for their achievements in the classroom, leadership milestones, and other areas of growth.

Dining Out is rooted in longstanding military tradition and is meant to boost camaraderie and morale, which this year's event certainly achieved!  A highlight of the evening is always the reading of grog nominations, a tradition that adds a bit of humor and excitement to the program.  From start to finish, it was a great Dining Out filled with recognition of Cadets and reflection on the year so far, along with laughter and lots of pride.

Congratulations to all of our JROTC Cadets on a successful first semester; we know you will continue to strive for excellence in the months ahead!

Chantilly Academy Highlights

carpentry

Carpentry 2 & 3 students are working on a project to support Edison Academy's Electrical Construction program.  The Electrical program has used the same walls to practice electrical wiring for nearly 10 years.  Thanks to a generous grant from FATE, our Carpentry students are building 15 new walls to donate to Edison Academy so students can start fresh with new canvases to practice their electrical work.

engineering

engineering

Engineering Systems students created wind turbine prototypes for a project that challenged them to produce energy to pump water from a water source to an area lacking clean water access.  Students designed their wind turbines and used 3D printers to build their prototypes.  Several tests were conducted to measure the energy output from the wind turbines.

med asst

Students in Medical Assistant practiced instilling ear and eye medications using anatomical ear and eye models.
