Can you feel it? The days are getting longer, the birds are getting louder, and there is a definite buzz of energy in our hallways. March is a pivotal month at Mt Vernon Woods as we balance the excitement of the upcoming spring season with some very important academic milestones.
Our students have worked incredibly hard this year, and we are now entering the "home stretch" as we prepare for upcoming state assessments. To ensure every student feels confident and ready, our teachers are focusing on two key strategies:
-
Spiral Review: Instead of just learning new topics, we are circling back to concepts taught earlier in the year. This "spiral" approach keeps foundational skills fresh and helps students make connections across different subjects.
-
Small Group Practice: We know that every learner is unique. During our designated intervention blocks, teachers are meeting with small groups to provide targeted support, clear up misconceptions, and give students that extra boost they need to shine.
