Congratulations to GCM's Boys' Basketball Team!!!
The boys' basketball team finished the season 23-5 overall (12-2 in the district).
It was the most wins in the school’s basketball program history.
The team was led by Seniors Zayan Jawaid and Shreyas Vaidya – two outstanding young men who consistently demonstrate strong leadership skills throughout the season. Junior forward Trey Lonardo was also named District Player of the Year, while Junior Jackson Fraser was named All-District and All-Region team.
The team is coached by Mr. Jerry Lin, a Marshall Class of 2001 graduate. He has been a coach for 22 years and the head boys basketball coach 6 years. This season, Coach Lin reached the amazing milestone of 100 career win on January 17th against Woodgrove.
Statesmen made an impressive run after clinching the #1 seed overall in the regular season, then defeated Yorktown in the District final to claim the Conference Championship.
In the Regional tournament, Marshall beat Chantilly and Centreville before falling to Westfield 49-46 in the Regional Championship game. The regional playoff run earned the Statesmen their first State Tournament appearance since 2006.
Marshall eventually dropped to South County 38-36 in a close battle in the quarterfinal of the State Tournament, but the season was one to remember behind the strong support from our school and student-body.
Congrats on a great season!

Sophomore Plant Sales
The Marshall High School Plant Sale is open for business and the proceeds benefit our Sophomore Class (2028).
The plant sale takes place every year and has a loyal customer base. It has a very good reputation for high quality, reasonably priced plants.
Order deadline is March 27. Plants are available for pick up in front of Marshall High School from 8:30AM - 11:00AM on
Saturday, May 2. Colors are first come first serve. Plants are perfect for teacher gifts, Mother’s Day gifts and your own personal garden needs.
We have raised about $400 profit so far from the plant sale and the sale opened Monday. Our goal is to raise $5,000 and I think we can make it if we try.
Please order plants for yourself and send this link to friends and family to help us sell as many flowers as we can. If you cannot buy flowers this year, please consider making a monetary donation (link here)
Each class has a goal of raising approximately $40,000 to pay for graduation and prom related activities. Because the goal is so large, classes start fund raising Sophomore year with the Plant Sale.
Chris Krouse and Carolyn Kesler are co-chairing the Fundraising Committee. They are looking for at least 20 more parents to help with the fundraising efforts. We hope you will consider joining us

Rooted in Resilience, Echoes of Excellence: FCPS’ Second Annual Black History Month Celebration
The spirit of heritage and the promise of the future filled the air at Carter G. Woodson High School as FCPS held its second annual Black History Month Celebration with the theme, Rooted in Resilience: Echoes of Excellence. This year’s event was especially significant as it coincided with the 100th anniversary of the movement that became Black History Month.
Students from across the division took center stage as the true "echoes" of this excellence. The program featured student-led Moments of Pride that connected local and national history to contemporary achievements. Vernon Walton, senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of Vienna, delivered a spirited keynote speech. Another highlight of the night was the FCPS Black Excellence video tribute.

Fairfax County Health Department Measles Update
Measles is a highly contagious virus that infects 9 out of 10 people who are exposed, if unvaccinated or not immune. It has been in the news lately due to cases in Northern Virginia and among people who have traveled through local airports.
If your spring break or summer plans include traveling abroad or to an area in the United States with high measles activity, the Fairfax County Health Department encourages you to ensure your family is protected. Children 12 months and older should have 1 or 2 doses before traveling. Depending on your specific travel plans, your health care provider may also advise you to vaccinate infants 6 to 11 months old. Read more about these recommendations.
