Here’s a simple idea that removes a lot of frustration.
Charlie here.
Something interesting happened during one of the VIP sessions this week.
A few players started feeling frustrated.
Not because they weren’t improving.
But because they were holding themselves to a standard that actually slows progress.
So I pulled everyone aside and explained something I’ve learned after years of playing and teaching.
The 70% rule.
Most people think they should understand something 100% before moving forward.
That sounds logical. It’s also the fastest way to stall your progress.
Military commanders use a different number.
70%.
If you wait for perfect information, you act too late.
Guitar works the same way.
You only need about 70% understanding before you start applying something.
Action creates the remaining 30%.
Inside a recent VIP session we simplified everything down to one rule:
Don’t try to master everything.
Just take 1 idea and apply it.
- 1 concept from a lesson
- 1 technique
- 1 pattern
If you do that, you win.
I recorded a short clip explaining this to the VIP group.
You can watch it here (this is an unlisted video on YouTube, not for the public because as you’ll see I look like I just dragged my ass outta bed
