Business Formation Statistics

Total U.S. Business Applications were 496,443 in February 2026, down 5.8% from January 2026.

February 2026: -5.8° % Change
January 2026 (r): +6.2° % Change

Today the Census Bureau also released two annual releases: 2025 Weekly Business Applications data with industry detail and 2025 Island Areas Business Applications data. The annual releases add data for 2025 and incorporate revisions for previously published counts.

Estimates are adjusted for seasonal variation but not for price changes.
