Trump's War: US Military Bombed Iranian School, Killing ChildrenAnd some street drawings, since the weather is so niceWe know the war is bad and wrong and ill-conceived and badly handled and just plain stupid… but this is such a tragedy. It has been determined that the US did in fact strike a girls’ school in Iran on Feb 28th, the first day of Trump’s War. Apparently, outdated information was used. From the NY Times: “Striking a school full of children is sure to be recorded as one of the most devastating single military errors in recent decades. Iranian officials have said the death toll was at least 175 people, most of them children.” In Heather Cox Richardson’s letter today, she quoted Democratic Texas state representative James Talarico, who is running for the U.S. Senate: “We’re always told that we don’t have enough money for schools, or for health care, or for our veterans. But there’s always enough money to bomb people on the other side of the world. And so we can support the democracy movement in Iran. We can prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, all without bombing innocent schoolchildren, or sending our American troops off to die on the other side of the world.” Richardson offered that Talarico is channeling President Dwight Eisenhower from a speech in 1953, as he hoped to reset the Cold War: “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.” I have always believed that our country should be concerned with helping our own citizens of course, all while we helped other countries in need. But we should do so not by bombing them, or demanding to dictate how they run their own governments, but through diplomacy and humanitarian aid. Some good news: A Democrat won a special election for a state house seat in New Hampshire on Tuesday, flipping a Republican district that Trump carried. This is the latest in a string of 28 Democratic upsets and is good news potentially for the midterms. Democrats have now flipped 28 seats since Trump returned to the people’s house. Republicans have not flipped any. Today’s edition of Deeper Seeing for paid subscribers is something light and fun.
