Trump: War Is Just "An Excursion, a Little Trip"The orange oligarch is on the road, spinning his war and the electionsThe above was drawn in Trump’s first go-round as president. The image seems too mild now. We had NO IDEA what we were eventually in for with his flights of fancy when I drew this in 2017. could just keep recycling drawings about him forever. Trump is on a road trip to try to convince Americans of the following: prices for food and gasoline are not as bad as you think, and they’re only going to get better; Democrats are cheating in elections and they always have done so; and his war with Iran that you’re hearing about is not a war, it’s an excursion. And he adds to that that the war is pretty much over, and he is the only one that will decide when it’s over. He may even say to them (although I am sure he will avoid the topic at all costs) that he’s been exonerated in the Epstein files. Of course none of these things are true. “We took an excursion. Do you know what that is? It’s a little trip to get rid of some evil people,” he told an audience at a rally yesterday. What an insult to his supporters; he thinks they’re not very smart. An excursion that has killed children and many others, that is costing taxpayers billions, creating fear and uncertainty and disrupting lives. The fighting/killing/bombing/displacing of people in the Middle East continues, and Iran has a new supreme leader who is just as hard-line as his father was. His father, who preceded him as the supreme leader, and his family were killed in the first strikes and so one can imagine that he and his supporters are very angry and committed to get back at the US and Israel. It’s not far-fetched to assume that they will do so not only militarily, but in cyber attacks. Their New leader announced today that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed, as he seeks to disrupt energy markets. He knows this only hurts US and the world. Here is Mojtaba Khamenei’s defiant statement. Trump is trying to spin his war and the midterms in his social media posts and as he travels around the country. The question is, who really believes him now, particularly since people are struggling to pay bills and have a clear memory that Trump told them he would not start any wars, but would end them? And Trump is spending a billion dollars a day on his flight-of-fancy war. Below is a link to the Parnas Perspective post today. I find his reporting very helpful. As Republicans are fearing a blowout in the midterms, some are trying to push for shenanigans to force the passage of Trump’s SAVE Act, which “requires state-approved identification when voting, proof of citizenship to register and a federal review of voters rolls to purge potentially ineligible voters.” It is designed to limit voter registration in a way that favor Republicans, not to mention go against our democratic beliefs in voting rights. But Republican Majority Leader John Thune senses that there is not enough support for a filibuster to force the passage. He’s getting a lot of attacks on social media and from his colleagues in the Senate, but so far he seems to be standing firm Of course Trump says he will not sign any new legislation at all until Congress passes the SAVE Act, and he also wants to add a measure that would prohibit most voting by mail and add some transgender bans — an issue that played well politically for him and Republicans in 2024. But Thune says: “We don’t have the votes either to proceed — get on — a talking filibuster, nor to sustain one if we got on it. It is just a function of math, and there isn’t anything I can do about that. I can guarantee the debate, I just can’t guarantee the outcome.” Which infurates Trump. Things are slipping for him, I believe. We have to stay focused and informed and keep the resistance going until the midterms. Be loud. Thanks for being here, as always. Have a good Thursday, see you soon. |
