Jim Cooper One of the best ways to grasp a company’s near-term priorities is to follow its job postings. That’s certainly the case with OpenAI. The owner of the now ubiquitous ChatGPT is launching an ads platform and is presently leaning on Criteo and reportedly The Trade Desk for scaled ad stack support. But as we reported this week, the company is also hiring to build its ads systems from the ground up. Live openings include a monetization infrastructure engineer, an engineering manager to lead the team, a product designer to define what advertising looks like inside its AI assistant, a senior manager to own ad revenue accounting and a trust and safety hire dedicated specifically to the ads offering. This head count will be San Francisco based – and all full time. At present, OpenAI has virtually no advertiser relationships. This hiring spree, estimated to cost $385,000, will start to change that. Read our most important AI coverage here each Friday ICYMI.
