Sam Rockwell Heads to Easter Island |
Thirteen years ago, writer-director Martin McDonagh went to Easter Island, drawn to the remote Chilean territory by its breathtaking monumental stone statues, known as the Moai—“their mystery, their beauty, their history, and the idea that we don’t really know an awful lot about why they were put there,” he tells Rebecca Ford. Afterward, the Oscar winner knew he wanted to set a film there, but it took years to find a story fit for Easter Island. That would be Wild Horse Nine, a black comedy starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. We’ve got an exclusive first look at the film, along with a revealing interview with McDonagh.
