Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Big To-Do: Short Cuts, our midweek round-up of what’s going on around Boston, as selected by Boston Globe critics and writers.

Thursday

  • Fresh off the “Stranger Things” series finale, The Duffer Brothers are back with their new series “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” on Netflix.

Friday

  • Boston DIY rocker turned “Survivor” star Ben Katzman performs at City Winery.

  • Phish bassist Mike Gordon brings the Vermont jam band vibes to the Paradise Rock Club.

  • BTS is back! Catch the K-pop group’s comeback documentary “The Return” on Netflix.

  • Head to Northampton for this year’s Back Porch Festival, which brings folk and roots artists to Iron Horse, Progression Brewing Company, and additional venues Friday through Sunday.

Saturday

  • Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson takes the stage at the House of Blues.

  • Comedian Al Park brings the laughs to Summer Shack in Cambridge.

  • Bluegrass band Della Mae stops in the Bay State for two nights, with a show at Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom on Saturday and Cambridge’s Club Passim on Sunday.




Sunday

  • Boston-based jazz ensemble the Mina Cho Quartet performs its “Passion Moves” program at the Lilypad in Cambridge.

  • The “Mayhem Ball” comes to TD Garden as Lady Gaga takes over Boston Sunday and Monday.

Ongoing

  • Riz Ahmed plays an actor who surprisingly lands the role of James Bond, but faces backlash over the casting in “Bait,” now streaming on Prime Video.

  • “Imagined Nation,” the Boston Athenaeum’s new exhibition in celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary, is on display through Nov. 14.

Last chance

  • Presented by Broadway In Boston, “Suffs” ends its run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre on Sunday.
