As I learned from growing up, you don’t mess with your grandmother. ~Prince William My grandchildren’s budding autonomy with mobile devices was accelerated by the pandemic. At seven and four years old, the two little pioneers of remote learning had been suddenly equipped with portable iPads for school. That led to arguments over screen time — it was school after all — but I saw a silver lining. I’d be able to contact them without going through their parents. Living fifty miles away, a virtual platform could never replace in-person visits, but it answered a need to step in from afar and assist with homework and engage in free-time activities.
