Today here on Seeing Things, I thought it might be nice to take a break from politics. I will be back at it tomorrow. It’s been a while since I shared one of my live iPhone drawings. Here is one from the A train in NYC, drawn on my phone with my finger. I love the difference of these two people. In my imagination, the woman was a teacher reading papers from her students, judging from her ocassional slight smile. The man was trying to sleep, hiding in his sweatshirt; I imagined he had had a late night last. I live way uptown in Manhattan, north of Harlem, and last night had to get to Brooklyn. It’s around a 50 minute train ride. Here is the route on the map (I love NYC subway maps). You can see my stop circled on the upper left and where I had to go down to the lower center. What I love most about NYC is the diversity and endless variety of people. There really isn’t anyhere better to witness this marvel of New York than on the train. The diversity seen in New York is a concentrated representation of what our country is about. Acceptance of all, no matter what they look like or where they come from, what they do, how they worship or who they love. Here is the sped-up video grab so you can see the drawing emerge as I do it. Hang in there, and make your plans to protest on Saturday for No Kings Day, wherever you are. Thank you so much for being here, I really appreciate it.
