Kate Box as Dulcie Collins in Deadloch. Prime Video |

The brilliantly funny Aussie series Deadloch is back for a second season on Prime, and while a lot of the particulars have changed — the action moves from a quirky seaside Tasmanian village to a somehow even quirkier, crocodile-infested backwater in Australia’s Northern Territory — the chemistry between our two leads persists. Cops Dulcie (Kate Box) and Eddie (Madeleine Sami) start out investigating the death of Eddie’s old partner, but soon get drawn into a world of severed limbs, family secrets, reptile poaching and really sweaty weather. Season 2 isn’t quite the delightful revelation that Season 1 was — it’s a lot louder and more chaotic, and it unspools so many disparate threads out of its central mystery that the final episode’s attempt to stitch them all back together feels rushed. But it’s still Deadloch, and that’s enough. – Glen Weldon
Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a new wacky R-rated comedy-action film starring James Marsden, Eiza González and two Vince Vaughns. It's a classic tale of two gangsters trying to stay alive on a really dangerous night, stuffed with pop culture gags, needle drops, time travel and charisma. There may be one too many Vince Vaughns for me personally, but I am always happy to see fun stylistic action sequences. The ensemble cast alone makes it all worth it, because we need more Keith David and Jimmy Tatro on screen together. The film is now streaming on Hulu. – PCHH producer Liz Metzger |
