Well, that was fun.
A big thank you to everyone who carved out time Wednesday to swing by Kaladi Brothers for the informal meet and greet. It was a small, engaged group with lots of opinions and a few spicy takes — just how it should be.
What stood out the most? Everyone who showed up came ready. These were folks who know who's in office, what's moving through the Legislature and what's happening at City Hall — and who have some pretty firm outlooks on all of it. We covered a lot of ground in a few hours: the Alaska LNG pipeline, new state revenue ideas, the SAVE Act, the war in Iran, and just about every other topic hitting the news cycle right now.
It was also a great chance to put names to faces, answer questions about how decisions get made in the Opinion section, and hear directly what's working and what's not. That kind of feedback is gold, and it's always better in person than over email. Because of that, we'll do it again, likely in three to four months, with date, time and location to be determined but you'll hear about it here first.
With that, let's keep that conversation going. If Wednesday proved anything, it's that there is no shortage of big topics to weigh in on.
Take the Alaska LNG pipeline — is it real this time, or are we still stuck in the "maybe someday" phase? If it does happen, when? And what does it actually mean for Alaska?
Or the situation in Iran. We've all heard the "no boots on the ground" line before. Do you believe it holds? What should the U.S. role be moving forward?
You get the idea. Send us a letter to the editor at letters@adn.com or via our web form with your thoughts. You know where to find me, and as always, thanks for reading.
