How to build a side hustle from a skill you'd rate yourself a 6/10 atHey zxcv, it’s Mark. It’s time to address this comment, I see it time and time again… ‘I want to make money NOW, I don’t have YEARS to master a skill before I can start my side hustle!’ Believe it or not, you don’t even have to be that good at your chosen skill to get started. You can even be mediocre. Infact many people making $10,000 a month are probably less naturally skilled than you are right now. So here’s how you can stop being left behind… Step 1: Find Your SkillWhen you’re just starting out, you need to find a skill that can actually put cash in your pocket. Unfortunately, not every skill is worth your time. So, to figure out if your skill is valuable enough to pursue into a side hustle, ask yourself these three questions:
If you’ve answered yes to these three questions, you’re golden. If your skill doesn’t fit any of these questions, then look on some freelancing websites, such as Fiverr or Upwork, and see what businesses are consistently asking for help with. Most people get stuck at this stage as they spend months or years trying to perfect their skill before offering it to anyone. That’s backwards. You need to start getting real world experience as quickly as possible. Step 2: Start For Free, Then Build Up.You might think that working for free is a silly idea, but it’s actually a very smart move if you’re just starting out. When you offer to work for free, people are more likely to begin working with you. This gives you a great opportunity to gain experience and build up a portfolio with testimonials. You can then leverage that portfolio later on to show you have the experience your future clients will require. After a few successful jobs, you’ll have the confidence and the experience to start charging market rates. This stage is all about learning, so it doesn’t matter how good you are when you start, what matters is that you just get started! Step 3: Leverage Your SkillsAt this stage, you’re likely charging lower prices then the market rate. That’s a good idea at first. But the problem is, it’s very easy to get trapped here. You’ll start questioning if you’re skilled enough to charge more, and at the same time, you’ll worry that raising your prices will scare away clients. You see the real money is in offering to help businesses make more money. When a business is making $50,000 a month, spending $2,000 to solve a problem isn’t a big deal, as long as it helps them make more money. So once you have enough experience under your belt, leverage your skills to solve problems for established businesses. Trust me, you’ll be able to charge far more. zxcv, what skill are you going to launch a side hustle with? I’d love to know, so hit reply to this email. All the best, Mark Tilbury P.S.
