Dear Sleepy Hollow School Community,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for making this year’s International Night Extravaganza such a remarkable success. Although I was unable to attend in person, I have heard from many that the evening was truly unforgettable.
I am told the event was filled with an impressive range of talented student performances, delicious food from around the world, and a vibrant celebration of the many cultures that make up our school community. Most importantly, it sounds like the evening was grounded in warmth, appreciation, and kindness—values that reflect the very best of who we are.
Events like this remind us of the strength found in our diversity and the joy that comes from sharing our heritage with one another. Thank you to all the students, families, and staff who contributed their time, energy, and passion to make the night so special.
I am incredibly proud of our community and grateful for the spirit of connection and celebration you continue to foster.
As we head into spring break, I wish all of our families a safe, restful, and joyful time together. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, April 7th.
With appreciation,
Principal Vega

Principal Survey
|
An official Principal Evaluation Survey will be sent directly from HR beginning tomorrow. The survey is anonymous, and your feedback is incredibly important to me. It helps me reflect on my leadership and continue to grow in ways that best support our students, staff, and families. You will receive reminders until you complete it or the window closes on April 19. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts. It means a lot to me to learn what is working and what could be better. This is more than just my evaluation; it also helps ground me in being the best I can be for the Sleepy Hollow community
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are looking forward to a strong and joyful finish to the school year.

April Early Release Wednesdays Canceled
Elementary Early Release Wednesday Update for Tuesday, April 21, is now a teacher workday and staff development day because of a recently announced special election that will impact all FCPS schools.
Students will now have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on April 22 and April 29, which were previously early release Wednesdays for elementary schools.
This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days.Read Dr. Reid’s letter to elementary parents for more details.
 Kindergarten Orientation
Friday April 10th 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Bus Tranportation will be Available
Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.
Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.
If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.
FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.

Weather Safety
FCPS Commitment to Weather Safety
At FCPS, the safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our highest priority — no matter the season. In extreme cold, we monitor National Weather Service (NWS) guidance, adjust outdoor activities, and ensure our buildings are warm and secure. In extreme heat, we modify or cancel outdoor activities, use on-site measurements to guide athletic decisions, and promote hydration and cooling breaks.
FCPS has plans in place to provide guidance during severe weather, including storms, flooding, and tornadoes. Decisions are informed by industry best practices, weather alerts, and a commitment to keeping our school community safe and healthy year-round. Read more about weather safety, including the differences between an advisory, watch, and warning.
Budget
Provide the County Government With Feedback on its Budget
About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors is reviewing the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Advertised Budget and considering possible adjustments before adoption in May. Opportunities to provide feedback to the county include Budget Town Hall Meetings airing on Channel 16 on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m., (Springfield District) and Friday, April 10, at 6 p.m., (Franconia District).
You can also provide your input during the county’s Budget public hearings on Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m., and Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16, at 3 p.m. at the Government Center Board Auditorium. Register in advance to speak.
Visit the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors website to learn more about the county’s FY 2027 Budget.
