A little about the book...

Two girls grow up without their mothers — and it shapes everything.

Kin follows Annie and Niecy, “cradle friends” raised side by side in 1950s Louisiana. They’re as close as sisters, but from the start, they’re not being prepared for the same life.

Niecy is raised with structure, expectation, and a path forward. Annie is left to figure it out — still pulled by thoughts of the mother who left.

As they get older, those differences stop being background noise — and start defining what each of them reaches for, expects, and accepts. 

Kin tells the story of female friendship and the lengths we go to for each other, even when everything in our lives changes.

We read four books per year.
