On the Croisette This Spring

Just as one awards season ends, another one kind of begins. The Cannes Film Festival, which has become a launching pad for Oscar contenders, announced its 2026 competition lineup today. If the names of the films don’t sound familiar (yet), certainly some of the directors will, with several previous Palme d’Or winners competing again this year. Today in VF, Rebecca Ford walks you through the lineup. (And stay tuned, because more films will be added!)
