Good afternoon. It's Friday, April 10.

In today's newsletter:

  • Gov. Mike Dunleavy signed a supplemental budget bill adding $450 million in spending during the current fiscal year, to cover the cost of transportation projects, fire suppression and disaster response, among other purposes.

  • Two ballot propositions that would benefit the Anchorage School District are narrowly trailing in support after additional votes were counted Thursday, and the race for a Midtown Anchorage Assembly seat has narrowed.

  • Families opposed to the Anchorage School Board's decision to close Campbell STEM Elementary are now suing the board and district in an effort to prevent its closure at the end of the school year.

The weather might be less than inviting, but there are still plenty of fun things to do around Anchorage this weekend, and many of them are indoors. From musical theater and a home show to the Merry Marmot Festival, check out some of the highlights here.

Anchorage weather

It's cloudy today with a mix of rain and snow, and a high around 40 degrees. Looking ahead to the weekend, more cloudy skies are in store, along with a wintry mix of precipitation through Sunday night. Daytime highs will hover in the low to mid-40s.
