School holiday visitors to the region have been blessed with some amazing April weather and autumn sunsets. It's been great to see the busy foreshore and eateries despite the increased fuel prices. Our Kalbarri fisheries correspondent reports mackerel and tuna have been on the run while further south in Jurien Bay, there have been some sizeable marlin reeled in.
This week we heard the shocking story of Emily Robertson-Miller, 29, who died from melanoma just 30 hours after falling ill at work. Her family and friends are pleading with people to cover up in the sun and get your moles checked.
Continuing with introducing our local team, Brianna Melville (pictured) joined the Geraldton office in September 2023. She's from the Perth Hills and grew up on a steady diet of horse riding and netball. She's a determined story chaser and has created a niche for following long-term missing persons, health and court reporting. Her connection with Barry Podmore's family over many months resulted in one of our highest read stories of last year. Bri says her favourite part of the job is road trips and the wide variety of stories she can cover working in a regional area.
