The Sunshine Scoop
Dear Families,
Believe it or not, there are only eight weeks left until school is out for the summer! We are beginning to think about and plan for next school year. As in the past, we welcome your participation as we plan for class assignments. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning abilities. You have the opportunity to complete an optional “Class Assignment Parent Survey” for the upcoming year. You can access the survey at our Louise Archer website, under the announcements “Class Assignment Parent Survey". Or, you can go directly to the google form here. Complete the fillable form, submit it, and the information will go directly to administration and will be shared with the grade level teachers during the placement process.
Please submit the electronic form no later than May 1, 2026. Late submissions or separate emails will not be considered. Thanks for continuing to have trust in our school and working together to create the most successful environment for your child(ren) at Louise Archer each year!

We cannot believe we are making this announcement...but the time has come for the amazing Mrs. Sahai to move over to greener pastures. She will be teaching math at Thoreau Middle School next school year. Mrs. Jasmine Monroe, former AAP teacher and current 6th grade teacher, will be stepping into Mrs. Sahai's role next year. We know just how strong and influential Mrs. Sahai is and we are fully committed to keeping a strong teacher in 6th grade AAP math and a mentoring connection with our neighboring high school. Congratulations to both Mrs. Sahai and Mrs. Monroe in their new roles! |
Pop Tab Collection
The Junior Optimists at Louise Archer Elementary School are excited to announce a schoolwide Pop Tab Collection to support the Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia! The collection began on April 13 and will run through May 8. We’re adding a fun, friendly competition between grade levels: Pre-K–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade, and 5th–6th grade. Students are encouraged to bring in pop tabs and drop them into the collection containers located in the front lobby during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community!
Bus Passes for Students
A reminder about our bus pass procedures to help ensure a safe and efficient dismissal for all students:
At Louise Archer, we understand that occasional changes in dismissal plans are sometimes necessary. However, we are currently experiencing a high volume of daily bus pass requests, which can create challenges with timely communication, supervision, and available seating on buses.
To help us better support all students, please keep the following in mind:
- Bus passes should be requested only when absolutely necessary.
- All arrangements should be confirmed between families in advance—school staff are not able to coordinate plans between parents during the school day.
While no changes will be made to procedures for the remainder of this school year, school administration is reviewing current practices and considering improvements for next year. Should you have feedback about our current practices, please submit it here.
Required Immunizations for Rising 7th Graders
FCPS is required to provide information on human papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccine to the parents and guardians of all rising 7th grade students. The Rising 7th Grade Newsletter Message, available in the Immunization Toolkit, should be shared with parents and guardians via school newsletters. Similar information will also be distributed via eNotify beginning in March.
