Teams across baseball were not necessarily shocked when Alex Cora was fired as manager Saturday night. The Red Sox haven’t won a postseason series since 2021 and were off to a terrible start this season. Trouble was brewing.
But it came as a major surprise that chief baseball officer Craig Breslow also wiped out six members of the coaching staff, in particular third base coach and outfield instructor Kyle Hudson.
Hudson, 39, is viewed as one of the most impactful coaches in the game. Since Hudson joined the coaching staff in 2024, Wilyer Abreu has won two Gold Gloves in right field and Ceddanne Rafaela one.
