For Japanese designer Kazuhiro Yamanaka, whose flat-packed lamp series Tsubomi won last year's Lighting design of the year, winning "was a truly memorable and meaningful experience," and gave his work "an extraordinary level of international visibility and introduced it to audiences far beyond the traditional design field."
