You know that drawer, Krzychu?
The one with random cables, 3 dead batteries, and a remote you keep "just in case."
I opened mine this week and had a tiny crisis. Why do we all keep these things? Are we emotionally attached to these plastic battery powered boxes of?
Then Home Assistant 2026.5 happened.
And suddenly that old RF remote stopped being junk and started being useful again.
The new radio frequency integration is not magic-everything-works mode. But it is a clean foundation that lets old RF devices join your normal Home Assistant automations.
In simple terms:
- keep devices that still work
- connect through a supported RF transmitter
- automate with your usual HA logic
That means less replacing, less waste, and honestly less pain.
I made a full video about it, including where this works, where it still doesn’t, and what to check before you buy anything, Krzychu.
