I looked into the community garden proposal you sent over and I think the raised bed layout near the south fence makes sense given the drainage patterns we saw last spring. The volunteer schedule you drafted works well for the morning sessions but we might want to shift the afternoon slots to start at 2 instead of 1 so people have time to eat lunch. The compost bins should be placed closer to the tool shed for easier access and I can bring extra pitchforks and wheelbarrows from my garage. Also the herb spiral design you mentioned looks great on paper but we should test the soil pH near the old oak tree before planting anything there because that area tends to be more acidic from the leaf litter. I picked up those seed packets you asked about from the co-op and they had a nice selection of organic heirloom tomatoes. The rain barrel installation might need to wait until after the first hard freeze though. If we mark the pathways with wood chips before the mulch delivery arrives that would save us from trampling the new beds. I think we have enough volunteers committed for the first planting weekend but we could use a couple more people for the drip irrigation setup.

The meeting minutes from Tuesday are mostly finalized but I wanted to clarify a couple of points before we send them out to the broader team. The timeline for the library renovation project has shifted by about two weeks because the permitting office is backed up. I spoke with the contractor this morning and they confirmed that the foundation work can still begin in early November as long as we get the approvals by mid-October. The stained glass restoration for the reading room windows is going to be handled by a specialist from out of state and they will need access to the building during off-hours. I will coordinate the security badge access with building management next week. Also the children section redesign has been well received in the community survey results and the new shelving layout should improve traffic flow near the story time area. The carpet samples arrived yesterday and I left them on the corner of your desk. The board wants to see the updated budget projections by the end of the month so please send me the spreadsheet when you have a chance. I think we are in good shape overall but we should probably add a contingency line item for the HVAC upgrades.
