Thanks for your note about Saturday. I think meeting around 2pm at the park makes sense if the weather holds. I checked the forecast and it looks like mostly sunny with a slight breeze, so we should be fine for the walk. I can bring the snacks you mentioned and maybe that lemonade recipe we tried last month. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions I should account for. Also I wanted to ask if you think we should reserve one of the picnic tables or just bring blankets and find a spot on the grass. I tend to prefer the area near the old oak trees since it stays shaded later in the afternoon. I can pick up some cups and plates if needed. I will check with Sarah about her schedule but she mentioned she might be free that afternoon too. If she joins that would be nice since we haven't caught up in a while. The trail should be lovely this time of year with the leaves starting to turn. Just let me know what else you need me to bring.

I wanted to follow up on what we discussed about the garden layout for next spring. I think raised beds along the south side of the yard would work best since that area gets the most sunlight throughout the day. We could use untreated cedar for the frames and fill them with a mix of topsoil and compost. I have been reading about drip irrigation systems and they seem fairly simple to install with a basic timer and some tubing. I think we should plan for tomatoes along the back row since they need the most support and then peppers and herbs in the front where they are easier to reach. I can start some seeds indoors around early March if we want to get a head start. I also thought we could add a small border of marigolds around the perimeter to help deter pests naturally. Let me know if you want to visit the garden supply store together this weekend to look at materials and compare pricing on the lumber and soil amendments.
