Principal's Message
Dear Marshall Road Families,
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the Family Picnic on Friday evening. The weather was perfect and the time to enjoy one another’s company was a great way to end the week. Thank you to the PTA for providing such an enjoyable evening for MRES families and staff.
There are only 19 days of school left and they are filled with much learning and many fun activities to look forward to! Please mark your calendars for these upcoming school events.

- Field Days, June 5 (Pre-K, K, 1st and 2nd), June 8 (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th)

Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, we appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s success by making sure they consistently come to school and are on time. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.
Field Days
Our annual field days are a favorite end of the year event for staff and students. This is a fun event where classes enjoy a variety of outside activities. Below is the field day schedule.
Pre-K, K, 1st and 2nd Grades:
June 5, 9:45 am – 12:30 pm
Volunteer Sign-Up Link for Pre-K-2nd Grades
3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Grades:
June 8, 9:45 am – 12:45 pm

The PE Department is asking for volunteers to put on fantastic field days. The more volunteers the greater success the days will be for our students. Please sign up if you are available to help. Thank you.
PTA Update
End of School Year- Teacher & Staff Giftcrowd
As the school year comes to a close, many families look for ways to thank the incredible teachers and staff at MRES. GiftCrowd offers a simple and optional way to share your appreciation with individual staff members or contribute to group gifts. Some staff members are grouped together as teams, making it easy to recognize those who work closely behind the scenes to support our students every day. Every recipient will receive your message along with the gift, and all contributions remain private.
GiftCrowd will close on June 14 at 11:59 pm ET. After that time, gifts will be automatically sent to all staff and teachers. If you would like to participate, consider this your friendly “do it before the end-of-school chaos begins” reminder! Questions? Contact Monica at president@marshallroadpta.org.
MRES PTA Meeting - PTA Board
We would like to thank all the parents, volunteers, staff, teachers, and community members who helped make this year so special. Your support, encouragement, and kindness have meant so much to our PTA and school community.
As some PTA volunteers prepare to step away from their roles, we hope new families will consider getting involved next year. The MRES PTA is always stronger when caring parents step forward to share ideas, lend a hand, and help create meaningful experiences for our students and staff. Volunteering is also a great way to build friendships and feel more connected to our school community. We hope to see you at our final PTA meeting on Wednesday, May 20th at 8:00 AM where we will vote for the new PTA Board. Join us in person in the cafeteria or hop on Zoom (Meeting ID: 953 649 4776 | Passcode: dQ3Zz2). Interested in getting involved or just want to learn more? Reach out to Monica at president@marshallroadpta.org.
Marshall Road Spring Musical - Alice in Wonderland
A few weeks ago, the Marshall Road Spring Musical showcased the incredible talent and teamwork of our community. Our 5th and 6th grade performers, art crew, tech crew, parents, and educators worked together to create a truly memorable show. It was especially meaningful to see former students and teachers return to support our Roadrunners, along with FCPS superintendent Dr. Reid and School Board Member Melanie Meren in attendance. If you missed the performance, you can still watch it here: Marshall Road PTA Musical Page.
MRES Bike-Train
The Bike-Train is rolling two more times this school year — Tuesday, May 19 and Tuesday, June 2! Join us as we ride together to school, departing from Meadow Lane Park at 8:45 am. Students are welcome to hop in at any point along the route!
A huge thank you to our former Roadrunners who are now serving as our official bike patrols on the ride home. They'll be supporting our Bike-Train leaders and helping make sure everyone gets safely back to Meadow Lane Park. Let’s keep the wheels turning and finish the year strong!

Staff Spotlight
Hooray for Ms. Keady, our amazing Kindergarten Resource Teacher, who snagged the PTA Priority Parking Spot this week! This is Ms. Keady’s first year as a Roadrunner!
When asked her favorite thing about Marshall Road, Ms. Keady said, “I would say my favorite thing about Marshall Road is the community between students and staff, it is such a welcoming environment, and I’m always excited to see my students and coworkers.”
In her spare time, Ms. Keady loves to read and is part of a book club with friends from college. Fun fact: Ms. Keady grew up in Vienna and went to Wolftrap ES, Kilmer MS, and Madison HS!
