Your viewers are watching. Now, how do you keep them there? Spoiler alert: most videos lose people because of bad pacing. If you missed yesterday’s email about crafting killer hooks in your videos, go check it out! It’s the foundation for everything we’re building this week. Today, let’s talk about the thing that makes or breaks the rest of your video: pacing. How fast you cut between shots. How quickly you get to the next story beat. How tightly your edit follows the rhythm of your music (if you’re using any). If you’ve ever watched a movie or video and thought, “ugh, this is dragging”, you’ve experienced poor pacing. And here’s a secret: the highest-rated movies and most viral videos tell clear, engaging stories without lingering on any one moment for too long. Ask any Hollywood editor, the story comes alive in the edit. Now back to you. If you want your videos to hold attention from start to finish, you need to be absolutely ruthless about what makes the cut. Every clip you keep should serve a purpose. If it doesn’t? Cut it! A practical tip I use all the time: Watch your edit with the sound off. If you catch yourself getting bored or zoning out, your pacing’s off. Tighten those clips. Speed up the story. Keep it moving. Good pacing keeps people watching. Tomorrow, we’ll cover the final, crucial piece: your ending. And trust me, this is the part that actually makes you money. Keep an eye out for that email. Talk soon, Matt PS: Tomorrow’s tip is one of my all-time favorites! It’ll help your videos perform better and boost your income. Don’t miss it. |
