Athletics Information for 2026-2027 School Year

2026-2027 School Year

Important Athletics Information

Dear CVHS Families and Community,

Welcome to our Rising 9th grade families!  As we close out another school year, I want to take a moment on behalf of the Athletic Department to thank our student-athletes, coaches, families, staff, and community members for your continued support of Wildcat athletics. This year has been filled with hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, and many memorable accomplishments across all our programs.

As we begin preparing for the 2026–2027 school year, we encourage all students interested in participating in athletics to begin planning now for summer workouts, tryouts, and eligibility requirements.

Requirements for Participation

To participate in athletics at Centreville High School, student-athletes must complete the following requirements prior to tryouts and participation:

  • Submit a current VHSL physical
  • Be registered through the FCPS online athletic registration system
  • Meet VHSL academic eligibility standards
  • Be enrolled and attend Centreville High School
  • Have all required emergency and participation forms completed

Fall Sports Tryouts

Fall sports tryouts for the 2026–2027 school year will begin on Monday, August 3, 2026. Golf tryouts/practices will begin earlier on Monday, July 27, 2026

Information regarding specific tryout dates, times, and locations will be shared throughout the summer on the Centreville Athletics website. Student-athletes should communicate directly with coaches regarding offseason workouts and expectations.

Please remember that students must have the following items complete before tryouts:

  • Be officially registered
  • Have a completed physical submitted
  • Meet academic eligibility requirements
  • Be enrolled at CVHS

Sports Physical Information

All student-athletes must have a current VHSL physical on file prior to participating in any tryout, practice, or athletic activity. Physicals must be dated after May 1, 2026, to be valid for the 2026–2027 school year.

We strongly encourage families to schedule physical appointments early to avoid delays during tryouts in August.

VHSL and FCPS Transfer Eligibility Rules

Families should also be aware that both VHSL and FCPS have transfer and eligibility regulations that may impact athletic participation.

Students who transfer schools may be subject to eligibility review under VHSL rules. Additionally, residency requirements and school boundary regulations established by FCPS may also affect eligibility.

We encourage any family considering a school transfer to contact the Athletic Department prior to making decisions regarding athletic participation so we can help guide you through the process and avoid misunderstandings.

Parent Volunteers and Booster Club Support

Our athletic programs rely heavily on the support of our families and community. Parent volunteers play a critical role in helping our events and programs run smoothly throughout the school year. From team support, concessions, fundraising, event operations, team meals, and gate coverage, volunteer support helps create a positive experience for all our student-athletes. During the season, coaches will be asking for support.

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to become involved with our Booster Club and support our athletic programs whenever possible. Your time, energy, and partnership directly contribute to the success of our teams and allow us to continue providing opportunities for our students.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our Wildcat community and look forward to working together again next year.

Please reach out to our Booster Club President Damien LaRuffa at cvhsathletics.president@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a member.
