Good afternoon from Washington, where Party Animals keeps hearing the same question from worried liberals: She’s not going to run, is she?
The “she” there is Kamala Harris, the former vice president who lost the popular vote and every single swing state to Trump in 2024.
Many Democrats just don’t see her as a strong candidate, and they want the party to move on. But the chances she’ll take another swing at the White House are higher than ever.
This week I spoke with more than two dozen Harris advisers, White House officials, political operatives, and top-dollar donors about the prospect of Kamala Harris 2028. Read on to find out where the former VP’s head is at when it comes to a run—and how the rest of the party feels about that prospect as Donald Trump runs roughshod over Washington.
PLUS: Is Stephen Miller the secret to his wife’s podcasting success?
