Anthropic announced today that it has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, joining rivals SpaceX and (reportedly) OpenAI in preparing plans to list its shares. If they do, the three giga-IPOs could add as much as $4trn to the market value of listed American companies in a matter of months. Can the stockmarket handle this? Probably—but in the longer term, expect some indigestion.
