It seems like we are all just waiting for the end of a nightmare. The dream we are in is just like dreams: weird, inconguous, unrealistically bizarre. I write about things I see in the news as each day begins, and there is upsetting stuff happening. Secretary of Defense head honcho Pete Hegseth struck a number of women and Black officers from promotion lists in the military, an apparent violation of the U.S. military's apolitical and merit-based promotion rules. He’s messing with people’s lives. But there is good stuff, too. Seven Democratic-controlled states sued Trump today over a move to block a planned wind farm off the coast of New York. Things are falling apart for Trump, you can read it in his lengthy posts. In Heather Cox Richardson’s letter this morning, she discusses many of Trump’s posts from last night. Some visual, which I share below. He says he is “thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate “Artists,” and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!” He continued: “Two years ago, the United States was DEAD. Now we have the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World. I don’t want so-called “Artists” that get paid far too much money, who aren’t happy. I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN. So, by copy of this TRUTH, I am ordering my Representatives to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday, Washington, D.C., same time, same location. Only Great Patriots invited—It will be a Wild and Beautiful Celebration of America! President DONALD J. TRUMP” Richardson describes some of the AI generated images Trump has posted on his Truth Social account. While her words depicting the pictures, I needed to see them for myself. So I went to all the links Richardson provided (and they are also all below). The attempt at propaganda is horrifying. Trump is clearly seeking to indoctrinate his followers— further than they already have been— by using AI imagery, and by repeating the imagery so often. Of course, putting his face on buildings in DC is another form of propaganda, as is his attempt at putting his name on money. The list goes on. Here is some of what I saw, all in the last few days. Ugly, crude, racist stuff. |
