Hey, thanks for your note about the hiking trail. I finally made it out there last weekend and it was absolutely stunning. The weather was perfect — not too hot, just a light breeze. The trail was about 4 miles round trip with a gentle incline through a pine forest. About halfway up there's a small waterfall that spills into a clear pool. I sat there for maybe twenty minutes just listening to the water and the birds. The summit has a panoramic view of the valley below, and you can see for miles on a clear day. I brought a simple picnic and just stayed up there for a couple of hours reading my book. Definitely going back again soon, maybe next month when the fall colors start showing. You should come along if you're free. I know you've been wanting to get out more. Let me know what you think.

I tried that sourdough recipe you sent me last week and it actually turned out really well. The starter took about five days to become active, which was longer than I expected, but once it got going the dough came together beautifully. I baked it in a Dutch oven and got a really nice crust with those little blisters on top. The inside was soft with irregular bubbles, just like artisan bread from a bakery. I added a bit of rosemary and sea salt on top before baking, which gave it a lovely aroma. My family ate almost the entire loaf in one sitting with butter and soup. I'm planning to make another batch this weekend and maybe try adding some olives or sun-dried tomatoes. Thanks again for sharing the recipe. I've been meaning to get into bread baking for a while and this was the perfect motivator. Let me know if you have any other good ones.
