The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Defends Dr. Robby |
The Pitt star Noah Wyle admits that he pays “very little” attention to the conversations online about his character Dr. Robby. “My son is sort of my barometer: ‘Dad, they’re really mad at you right now. America’s really pissed at you right now,’” he tells Little Gold Men. “But that’s about as much as I can take in while I’m working.”
And working is what he is doing almost nonstop these days. As the star, writer, director, and executive producer on the HBO hit, Wyle is busy in the writers room at the moment, working on season three. But the Emmy winner took some time to talk to Little Gold Men about the show’s strong second season, including the choice to push his character further into the darkness as he struggles with mental health issues. Some fans were not pleased with witnessing this fall from grace. “We put a purity test to our heroes that nobody could pass, but we give a pass to our villains that forgives unbelievable behavior,” he says. “And that is an interesting American hypocrisy.”

Wyle also reveals how long he may stay on the show. He had previously starred on ER for 11 seasons, but says he sees Dr. Robby’s current arc wrapping up in less time than that. He also shares how much real medical knowledge he’s absorbed after playing doctors for so many years. Finally, he teases a little bit about what’s to come for the crew at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. |
