Mini-Art Vending Machines: "What America Means to Me"

In honor of America’s semi-quincentennial in July 2026, the City of Fairfax has announced a new themed call for 2-D, small-format art designs for its popular Mini-Art Machines.
The Mini Art Vending Machine is a fun, affordable way to collect pocket-sized works of art by local artists. Just four quarters gets you a miniature art print — a one-of-a-kind way to experience and support the local arts community.

Beginners Pastels Class with Karina Mossier

This workshop is a great introduction to Soft Pastels and how to color blend, add layers, how to add texture, harmony, and balance.
Karina has been an artist and art educator in the Washington, DC, area since the 1990s. She has developed a blending technique that adds brilliance to colors. She primarily works in soft pastel and PanPastel.
Karina is a member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA). She regularly exhibits in local galleries. Her most recent works can be found on Instagram @karina_mosser

ARTScreen Film Series presents “Jazz on a Summer's Day"

Join us for the screening of "Jazz on a Summer's Day," a concert film of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island — featuring performances by Jimmy Giuffre, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Stitt, Anita O'Day, Dinah Washington, Gerry Mulligan, Chuck Berry, Chico Hamilton and Louis Armstrong.
Free admission, refreshments, popcorn and candy! Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
ARTScreen presents four to five films a year focusing on "the arts" as subject matter or on a particular film genre. It is sponsored by the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts and is open to the public.

A comprehensive visual representation of the AANHPI creative journey, Chromatic Currents celebrates both is foundational roots and contemporary expressions of radical reinvention.
