The extract was practically designed for this drink. 2 oz bourbon (Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve — anything decent) ¼ to ½ tsp lavender vanilla bourbon extract (start with ¼ tsp, taste) 1 tsp simple syrup (or sub maple syrup for a richer feel) 2–3 dashes Angostura bitters Large ice cube Orange peel, expressed and dropped in
Stir bourbon, extract, syrup, and bitters in a rocks glass with the big cube for 20–30 seconds. Twist the orange peel over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in. Done.
