Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,
Students enjoyed another busy week of learning at FHES! Today, 5th grade students gathered in the library to meet with Mr. Koopman who visited FHES as part of the Southwest Airlines Adopt-a-Pilot program. Mr. Koopman spoke to students about flight, time zones, space travel, integrity and STEM centered conversations. It was a wonderful opportunity for the 5th graders today!
Kindergarten students from Mrs. Strumsky & Mrs. Kohls class were visited by 2nd grade students to share their Wixie projects. The kinder students were able to share and explain their writing and photography with their excited audience. Thank you Ms. Stout for leading this learning!
Next Friday, FHES will host our annual field day! I am excited that this year, the FHES field day is supported by Fairfax250! As our country prepares to celebrate a 250th anniversary, Fairfax250 has shared resources with schools across the county to fund end-of-year celebrations. I am proud that Flint Hill can mark this special occasion as not only the conclusion of a school year but also as a time to reflect on the history and growth of our country over the past 250 years!
Kindly,
Mr. Montaquila, Principal
Mr. Baker, Assistant Principal

"Congratulations! Your action plan for Flint Hill Elementary School has been approved at the Green Flag level."
"Welcome back, Flint Hill! Thank you for your continued participation in the EcoSchools U.S. program, where globally, thousands of schools just like yours are committed to a more sustainable and just world. It was a pleasure to review the action team’s plan for Green Flag certification. Flint Hill Elementary demonstrated strong leadership in environmental stewardship through a wide range of student-led initiatives. These initiatives included recycling programs, garden care, and citizen science projects. Flint Hill fostered meaningful community partnerships with local organizations and high school volunteers while integrating hands-on learning across grade levels. These experiences built skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and global citizenship. Whole-school engagement was evident through events like the Day of Service, spirit wear drives, and creative activities such as the EcoCode drawing contest. This whole-school engagement promoted social-emotional growth and academic connections to science and sustainability. Students took active roles in advocacy and outreach by extending their impact beyond the classroom and encouraging community-wide participation."
"We are proud of the work happening at Flint Hill. The Green Flag is a great achievement and we look forward to your continued participation and excellence next year!"

Flint Hill will be donating both use and unused school supplies at the end of the year. These will include pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, pink erasers, scissors, glue sticks, pencil boxes, and Expo markers.
Please talk to your student(s) about which of these items you are okay with them donating and which items you would like to return home for use at home or next school year. We will also collect any backpacks or lunch boxes that you do not plan on reusing yourselves. Collection boxes will be in the front hallway until the last day of school.
If you prefer that your student not donate their backup and used supplies, please communicate that to them before next week!
Thank you for helping reduce our end-of-the-year waste!
