From the Principal’s Pen
Dear Laurel Hill Families,
As we quickly approach the end of another fantastic school year, the energy and excitement around our building are truly palpable. We have so much to celebrate and look forward to in these final weeks!
A huge thank you to our incredible PTA and all the volunteers who made our school carnival a massive success! It was wonderful to see so many of our families coming together for an evening of laughter, games, and community spirit. We had a deeply moving moment recently as we welcomed back current high school graduating seniors who began their educational journeys right here as Laurel Hill Lions. Watching them walk our hallways in their caps and gowns for their "Senior Walk" was an absolute joy, and we could not be prouder of their achievements.
We want to remind you all of our Sneaker Dance to celebrate the end of the school year and Ms. Dalton's tenure at Laurel Hill ES!! Please make plans to join us as you are able; save the date: June 15. The times are as follows: 1:45-2:45 grades K-3, 2:45-3:45 grades 4-6. Bring your sneakers and your dance moves! During the week of June 15, we are also throwing a special Spirit Week to celebrate the wonderful Ms. Dalton! Please see the flyer below for details on each day's theme so your child can participate in the fun.
With the final days of school rapidly approaching, our calendar is packed with special activities, ceremonies, and end-of-year celebrations. Please keep a close eye on upcoming dates and adhere to the schedules provided so we can ensure everything runs smoothly for our students.
Sincerely,
Janice Dalton, Principal
Addison Smith, Assistant Principal
Thmeaka Traylor, Assistant Principal

New Cell Phone Policy
New Cellphone Policy Starts July 1
On Thursday, May 7, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R). The approved changes include updated guidance for cellphone possession and use, to align the FCPS cellphone policy with Senate Bill 108. This new Virginia law goes into effect on July 1 and states that all schools in the Commonwealth must follow a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy.
This means that starting July 1, 2026, across all grade levels at FCPS, student cellphones, phone accessories, and all smart devices (including watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other other items connected to the internet) must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day — thus, no cellphones from bell to bell.
