Behind the Scenes: MassLive Creators Are Growing Fast and Transforming How We Get Our News
The way we deliver the news you need is constantly evolving. But it’s clear we’ve entered the era of the “creator in chief” — where individuals build trust as they share news and information with an ever-widening audience.
MassLive Vice President of Content Ronnie Ramos has been at the forefront of developing the MassLive Creator in Residence program, designed to foster innovation and connect with readers like you.
For this week’s column, I caught up with Ronnie — along with our standout MassLive creators — to learn more about what inspired the pilot and how it will serve our audience.
The MassLive creators featured in the video may already be familiar names. For example, Nick O’Malley, who has entertained us with his “Nick Ate It So You Don’t Have To” column, brings a unique perspective on everything from cider doughnuts to Oreos. Nick is now expanding his talents with a creator effort on Instagram under the handle N.E. Where, and his follower count is rapidly growing.
I had the pleasure of talking with Nick as we walked into a Woo Sox game with about 40 other MassLivers, and it was great to see the enthusiasm he brings to our community. Watch my walk-and-talk interview with Nick here.
Heather Morrison, another rising creator for us, has spent years as a breaking news editor at MassLive. Now, she leads our TikTok efforts under the MassLive News account, connecting with a wider audience every day. Heather’s dedication is evident, and her following continues to grow as she shares the latest news in oh-so-entertaining ways. Watch my interview with Heather and Ronnie here.
The MassLive Creator in Residence program is all about empowering talented individuals to deliver news in fresh, accessible ways. By leaning into platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, we’re making local news more engaging and interactive for everyone.
We’re grateful for your support and excited to have you with us on this journey. Thanks for being part of our community. We’d love to hear which creators inspire you most or any thoughts you have about our Creator Network. Together, we’re shaping the future of local news.
As always, please reach out to me with comments and questions at jmacht@masslive.com.
Have a great weekend,
Josh
