Zoning Fee Changes Effective July 1, 2026
The City of Fairfax will implement a number of changes to fees for zoning-related plan approvals and permits starting on July 1, 2026. The update is in response to increased costs due to inflation and to better reflect the requirements needed to continue to provide quality services to our customers.
These changes mark the first comprehensive update to zoning fees in the City of Fairfax since a rewrite to the Zoning Ordinance was adopted in 2016.
Fees have been updated for administrative approvals, including: Sign Permits, Zoning Permits, Tree Removal Permits, Site Plans, Erosion & Stormwater Management Plans, and Subdivisions; and for discretionary land use approvals, including: Rezonings, Proffer Plan Amendments, Special Use Permits, Special Exceptions, Certificates of Appropriateness, and Variances, among other items.
Please visit the City webpage for the full list of fees effective July 1.
